Been a bit busy since my last blog post.
Tuesday saw me on the affordable open at Acorn, well I drew peg 22 (because that's what I always draw). Didn't fancy it much, my mind was on the upcoming winter league match on the same venue, and so I was trying to see what might work. This entailed me trying everything, learning nothing and blowing the swim, I DNW and threw back about 12lb.
Thursday then saw me visiting Shiplate for their affordable match, an opportunity to test my DIY powered trolley (video to follow soon😊). Plus I had the dog with me first time ever when fishing a match.

He gets his own chair pampered pooch😂🤣. I drew peg 2 which has an island at 14.5M, this is usually good. Sadly the fish had moved out the area and I once again struggled DNW and threw back about 17lb. (Looking at the weight sheet that would have finished 6th so a tough day for many on the main lake this week).
I then managed to squeeze in a pleasure fishing session at Plantation lakes, I had Michael Hill and John Roberts for company. We were all fishing for silvers, had a great day a great laugh, it was a welcome rest from match fishing.

Today saw me back on Acorn for the first round of the winter league. First round is an open draw, so I promptly drew peg 22, because as I have already said that's what I do😂😂🤣.
The only thing I had really learnt this week was that everywhere was fishing hard and maggots was going to be the banker bait.
I did dob bread to start with but it wasn't right and I ended up catching on maggot over maggot. The fishing was hard and sparradic but I stumbled to 27lb 12oz and a section 4th. Middle of the section and middle of the match overall. Not a brilliant start but a nice day in good company and a few bites.
