4 match catch up.

1st up is Viaduct last Saturday weekend, on the open, drew 129 so happy with draw, I was reliably informed that skimmers would be a viable target. I setup a meat rig to try and catch both Skimmers and Carp, after 1.5hrs it was clear it wasn't going to happen as planned☹. Tried pellet wag to no avail, carp were shallow and I should have tried mugging (even though I am useless at it). Long story short DNW😔, 200lb+ won the match mugging🤦.

The next day saw me at Shiplate, peg 3 main Lake this peg has an island chuck and some open water, plus rocks to your left where fish often feed late😊👍. 1hr in I had 2 carp & 2 skimmers fishing the tip to the island, this was actually doing well as it was fishing hard. I swapped between method to the island and shallow meat at 14m , catching odd carp and skimmers and a nice Tench😊. With 1.5hrs to go went short to my left in front of rocks, had a nice run of carp (including 2 carp for 31lb), stayed there until all out was called. I weighed in 88lb 8oz for 4th, nice days sport one more fish would have seen me to 2nd place, nice close match😊👍

3rd match was a Tuesday costcutter at Acorn, 25 fishing, I drew peg 27 this isn't good. I struggled all match for bites, tried every rig in my box and the method feeder🤣🤣😂😂, it was never gonna happen, I threw back 30lb odd. Match was won from peg 40 with 100lb+, well done Graham.

My latest match was back at Acorn on the spring league. I was on C section and was desperate to avoid 28 as it had been so hard there earlier in the week. I was pleased with 31 a good peg, the fish were showing signs of spawning and I feared it would be a tough day. I got myself 2 pints of maggots to fish for anything should the carp switch off whilst spawning.

Started in edges on corn over Tom's Edge mix had 2 carp in the first 20mins and was surprised to pick up a couple more, 20lb in the bag after 1hr, nice start, Rob on peg 28 had mugged a few and it looked like we had some fish down our end👍.

Things got hard in the edges and I went across for another little run of carp before it got hard again. Rob on 28 was now catching shallow on caster he was emptying it! I went down the middle shallow over my maggots and did also have a few carp, but they didn't seem to settle I front of me☹. It was clear that Rob was going to win my section, so I decided to get on the catch anything rig and try some damage limitation. I caught skimmer Tench and odd carp quite quickly, I did try edges and across occasionally but they just weren't happening. I felt I had fished a tidy match and my 28lb of silvers helped me to a total of 97lb👍. This was sadly only good enough for 5th in section, seems I have a section full of casters anglers who all emptied it🤯, well done to them. Rob won the match from peg 28 with 220lb👍👍 great fishing, the place fished it's head off.
