Not been able to get on a costcutter for a couple of weeks so well happy to be back and see a few of the regulars. 22 fishing today turnouts are good at the moment at Acornšš.
Mike & Eddie drew me peg33, a nice peg next to one of Acorns bridges. I had a feeling at the start of the match that the Lake was going to fish its head off.....WRONG! againš¤£š.
I had 4 pints of maggots today and I planned to throw them allday and potentially big pot them in the edge???
I started across on 6mm pellet tapping in pellets, one lost foul hooker was all I could manage. I switched to feeding maggot across with a toss pot, more indications, it was clear the fish wanted maggot, but not on the deck.
Came down the middle over my bridge line where I had been feeding maggots, had a few silvers but they weren't there in any numbers.
I eventually hooked a carp by swinging my dibber rig out towards the far bank fishing 8 inches deep and spraying some maggot. Had 3 quickly this then died, this was the theme of the day, never really got fish having it for any length of time.
Eventually there were fish on the bridge maggot line and I could go over this (slapping maggots), have 3 or 4 before it went iffy, then I had to rest it. Sometimes it was carp, other times it was F1s and I also had nice big skimmers on it.
My margin line never produced a proper fish all match. I finished with 77lb 14oz and surprisingly the m
atch win, the venue fished real hard on the dayšš.
