Acorn expensive affordable.

Updated: Apr 28, 2021

Another Tuesday affordable match at Acorn, started badly when 10mins before the all in I broke my pole with my big clumsy boots🤦No6 &No7.

Lucky I carry a spare and so was able to fish on with little issue. Things didn't improve as after an hour I was fishless and whilst no one was bagging almost everyone had something in the net.

I was on peg 21 which is a bridge peg, usually good for holding numbers of small fish but this wasn't proving to be the case.

As the match wore on I slowly picked up odd fish, fishing across against the mud line.

I was definitely ruing my decision to focus on pellet and not get any maggots from the on site tackle shop.

I only managed 2 tench and 2 small skimmers down the middle against the bridge. No indications against the next pallet.

To cut a long story short the venue did fish hard and my 36lb odd, made me an also ran. On the plus side I did win my side £1 bet with Dave Ings, and I have a few learnings I can take forward to my Saturday league match😊👍.

83lb won from peg12 Bob Smith, whilst a great silvers weight of over 37lb from peg 40 took the silvers first place, details of which will surely be in Mike Nicholls blog soon. Watch it all on you tube https://youtu.be/VLvS6iY5Q3Y
