Got my name down for a Saturday open at Acorn, these opens are run by Chris Fox, and are a series of matches over the next few months.
Well happy when I drew peg 1, the venues been fishing OK, so I was expecting a nice days sport.
1st hour I had 3 or 4 carp (small.fish), all dobbing, but after losing a rig it all went a bit wrong on the dobbing front.
Peg one has a lovely margin corner to the right, I had put a ball of GB (Pellet Guys Retro) laced with maggot there at the start, went over it, one skimmer and then nothing.
So tried over my far bottom of shelf line, this had been very sparingly fed with Tom Thick Dark expander GB and a few pellets. Managed a couple more skimmers then nothing☹☹☹.
So I made up a new dobbing rig and spent the rest of the match rotating round my lines. Did manage a run of 3 carp in the last 30mins thanks to pinging some maggots across. Weighed 17lb odd for nowhere, Glenn Calvert won from peg9 with 35lb 11oz😊👍 weldone to all the framers, it really did feel like winter today😊👍
