Acorn Main Lake

Today was a rare opportunity to fish a match on the main lake at Acorn. Usually reserved for specimen anglers only. The specimen carp in this lake have successfully spawned, causing a boom in small carp that are causing issues for the carp anglers. So occasionally matches are organised to help move fish out of the main lake and into stock ponds. All fish under 10lb count towards your weight, anything bigger doesn't.
I drew peg 24 which isn't a permanent peg so won't mean much to anyone. This is my 3rd time fishing the lake and previously I have caught well early on fishing maggots short and shallow. So today I decided this would be part of my plan, and I thought I would also make the method feeder part of the plan, I had heard that the carp anglers were catching the bigger (3lb) fish over towards the islands.
So I started on the feeder whilst priming the maggot short and shallow. 6 casts, 6 fish on the method and things were going well (although the fish were not any bigger than average). I stuck on the feeder for the first hour it slowed considerably, so time to get on the maggot line. After 20mins and no fish I was back on the feeder, which wasn't ideal as it wasn't really producing!
Most people were struggling, so I stuck at the feeder hoping perhapssome of the bigger fish would appear. I was getting indications but losing many fish as they were really small??
I started a new line topkit and 4 fed with the micros I had prepared for the method.
I caught over this line in spells and switched between it and the method until the end of the match.
I did manage a nice 2lb+ eel which was the highlight of my day, I was disappointed with my 28lb 4oz, but pleasantly surprised to pick up a double default section win😊👍
