Managed to get out for another Tuesday at Acorn, couldn't believe it when I drew peg 21, must be 4 times this year.
I had planned to fish shallow today, with high pressure and sunny warm weather it seemed the sensible choice.
I started short bottom of the slope top kit and one. This produced one stocky and a foul hooked 5lb carp. All the while I was feeding expanders down the middle by hand and pinging hard 6mms across against the bank.
I went down the middle with my slapping rig, but there were no indications.
I went across fishing half depth against the bank where I had been pinging. There were fish there but it was slow going I did foul how one and landed it, another 5lb carp.
Back down the middle 6 inches deep on a dibber, expander on the hook tapping the surface with the pole, float buried elastic shot out, lost a carp at least 8lb, I quickly hooked another the same size with the same method and promptly lost that one tooš¤¦š¤¦š¤¦ 16lb lost in 5minutesš”.
I did eventually land the third fish and had a little run of fish before it went hard. Fish were slurping across in the area I had been pinging 6mms so I went across and by placing an expander 6inches deep tight against the reeds I could pick off odd fish.
I spent the rest of the match alternating between the line down the middle and the line against the reeds, catching steadily throughout.
Last 45mins things slowed on both lines, I tried my short line again but lost a foul hooker.
I finished with 122lb 8oz for 3rd on the day.
