It was nice to be out after my Covid isolation, so off to Acorn for a Tuesday affordable, at the draw hoping for something different (please not 21 or 22 again🤞🤞🤞). I was well happy when Mike drew me peg11, probably the most consistent peg for the last 3 or 4 weeks😊😊 .
It was a little windy and peg 11 was certainly the worst affected peg on the lake, but I was still optimistic and felt I should catch some carp at some point today.
I started dobbing across I foul hooked 2 carp in the first 45mins landed one and lost the other, had a quick dob down my edges but no signs.
I had a line down the middle fed with GB and maggots, had a quick look but not happening.
So back over this time on the deck tapped in 1mm pellets and fished maggots. I had a lovely perch at least 1.5lb, followed by some 12oz stockies but it was slow.
Another look down the middle did produce a few roach and 2 skimmers but again very slow and not going anywhere.
With 2hrs to go I have ventured into the corner margin to my left. I fished corn here and had a run of mixed sized carp and a few big roach. This line died with 45mins to go and I never had another bite anywhere.
I finished with 29lb 2oz which to my surprise was good enough for second on the day. A tough day for most but still enjoyable and much better than self isolating😊👍.
