Chris fox is running a series of opens at Acorn, I got myself booked on. With 2 or 3 really cold nights leading upto the match knew it was going to be tough.
15 fishing so a nice turnout for January. I drew peg5 which isn't a bad peg but also not an out and out flyer either.
I wasn't sure whether to focus on the silvers or carp, with there being a good payout for silvers on this match Silvers was an option.
I started dobbing for a carp, soon had one in the netšš hooked in the mouth much to Martin Rayets surpriseš¤£š¤£š.
The next 2 were foul hooked and both were lost, before the carp disappeared.
I had a line at the bottom of the slope in front of peg 3 platform. I went over it with a 6mm expander, this produce 2 quick carp and no more bites for the rest of the day.
That was the last carp I hooked all day, I started some lines down the middle and had a go for some skimmers, fishing was tough and I finished with 6 skimmers, a nice perch and a tiny roach. I weighed 17lb 10oz all in, this was only good enough for 8th overall.
