Today was the last round of this 6 round league. After last rounds bomb out, I had fallen out of the framing places(top4). I needed a good result today to maybe sneak back into the framing places.
I drew peg 22, happy with this as its one of the best pegs in the section. The weather was poor, windy and rain forecast.
I started against the bridge down the track, no signs of fish so went across in 2.5foot of water. I had a small 2lb carp, but the wind was getting to be a real problem.
I decided to have a look short as it was the only place I could keep a rig still, then disaster struck, the wind blew my pole off the rollers and it broke the No7 section.
I carry a spare pole but I had left the No7 at home so I was now stuck fishing at my number 6 or shorter.
I setup a feeder rod as I wasn't even able to hold a rig on the short line. I fished an open end feeder with GB and pinkies I had another small carp and 2 skimmers.
Eventually the wind dropped a little, I was able to fish down the middle and short. I had 3 lines which I rotated around for a couple more skimmers, a small Tench a small perch and 1 more carp 3lb.
Pete on peg 15 had dominated our section, he was clearly going to win the section. It was close between me and Glenn on peg 21 for 2nd. Glenn managed to get the edge weighing 2lb more than me. A 3lb fish he caught in the last 5mins was crucial. This pushed me into 3rd with my 11lb.
I didn't feel like this was going to be good enough to get me back into the overall league framing place.
However some of the other results had gone my way and I had snuck into 4th on weight count back. I have enjoyed this well run league, looking forward to the spring league and hope the weather improves🤞.
