First out the Money Plantation

Today was one of Tony Rixons Thursday silvers only matches at Plantation Fishery.

I found myself on peg 38, with plenty of room this peg is out on a point I was quite happy with the draw😊, although it was in prime Heron ambush territory 😂😂🤣🤦.

Peg was a bit of a mess and I was thankful for having adjustable legs on my box.

I had Sprocket the dog in tow today and with filming to do, I was going to be a busy boy to get setup on time😊👍.

I was down to 3 top kits with No5 elastic in, one of them snapped yesterday. I decided to tighten another of them today but actually ended up losing the elastic up the pole instead!, I wasn't happy 😳.

So down to 2 rigs for the day😡. Got everything setup on time, rigs, bait, dog and cameras. I decided to change one of hooklengths 2 mins before the all in, I some how managed to bite through the main line loop by accident🤦🤦🤦. A quick re-plumb up was required.

Fed 2 balls of dark GB and casters at 10m&11 o'clock.started at 14m&12 o'clock on pellet.

The start was slow and the first hour saw 5 or so skimmers of a smallish stamp. This was an OK start but others had caught a better stamp (I had hooked 3 better fish and lost them all☹☹). A quick look over the GB line one skimmer and nothing else, so topped up and back on pellet line. I was slowly getting the feeding sorted and just started to hook some better skimmers at the end of the 3rd hour. Then the sun came out and I couldn't even look at the float it was too bright. I was forced to start a new line to my right at nearly 3 o'clock (14m).

This line produced my best run of better stamp skimmers, and kept me catching whilst the sun moved around.

As the match wore on my catch rate on all lines slowed (I also lost a few more good skimmers🤯). At times the light was so bad I simply couldn't fish certain lines.

I finished on 24lb 5oz 5th overall, a lovely day's sport those lost fish did cost me a framing place. Des Shipp put on a silver fish master class to win comfortably with 47lb.

Every angler had over 10lb today, lovely fishing in February😊👍
