Today I fished at the lakes in Hunstrete, these lakes are on the Bathampton AA book but I managed to get an invite to fish an open setup by Michael Hill.
Word on the bank was that we would catch loads of F1s shallow, something backed up when I chatted to the bailiff. I drew peg 6 so a very short walk, and an island at 16metres.
I started over to the island on the method feeder whilst I fed my short shallow line (topkit & 2) with pellets.
After an hr I had one skimmer on the method, so I had a look over the shallow line.
I couldn't catch F1s only odd roach and small skimmers. So back on the tip for another 30mins, but it wasn't happening and another look on the shallow line was also fruitless.

I decided to get a new rig out and try and fish on the deck over the pellets I had been feeding for 2 hrs on the short line. This proved another dead-end.
I plumbed a new line to my left with the new deck rig, fed a ball of micros over it. I went straight on it with expander and started catching skimmers. I setup another line same rig to my right and I now had two lines fed with micros and catching skimmers over both of them.
This continued with spells of fish, I did try the margins (corn) for 30mins also but no bites. With 45mins to go I put chopped worm over the right hand line, this really got the swim going and I had a nice run of skimmer. I weighed 22lb8oz of skimmers and won the silver pool on the day😊👍
