Today I fished a little match on the withy pool, at the Hunstrete lakes complex. I drew peg 62, which is in the corner of a little bay. I planned on fishing for silvers allday, having never fished the lake before I had no idea what to expect.
I fed 4 balls of GB on one line in the deepest water I could find. I fed a big pot of dead maggots long towards the bank in 4foot of water.
I then started long on pellets, 15mins in and I hooked my first fish, which seemed to be a carp, it quickly snagged me in the middle of the lake.
The pellet line then produced some small roach a move to the maggot line also produced a few small roach.
I dropped onto the main GB line had a skimmer but the small roach were soon showing again.
Over the maggot line I had a couple of better roach before being seem off by a carp. Rotating around my lines and topping up seemed to be the order of the day. I would pick up odd better fish and sometimes hook a carp. I landed 2 carp from the 7 that I hooked.
I finished second on the day with 16lb of carp and 7lb of silvers for 23lb, the lake had fished hard.
