3rd round of the spring league at Acorn fishery, saw me in B section, pegs 15 to 26. I wanted, either 26,22 or 15 so I was well pleased when I was drawn peg 22.
I started by feeding a ball of groundbait and half a big pot of maggots against the bridge down the centre track. This was a line I would hope to drop onto during quieter spells and hopefully pickup some of the better resident Tench.
I started over dobbing......yes dobbing it has been working at the fishery but sadly not for me today.
So I switched to expander and groundbait approach had a few small carp but it wasn't really happening.
I found myself on my bridge swim after 30mins as it was fishing hard. I picked up a run of small Tench and skimmers, I couldn't seem to get through to the better Tench.
I spent the next few hours rotating between across and the bridge line.
After 4hrs I had 9lb of carp and about 12lb of silvers. I realised I needed to make something happen or risk a bomb out.
I fed micros to my left, top kit and 4 in about 2foot of water, and also started feeding 6mms by hand, to my left topkit and one.
These two lines produced a great finish for me resulting in several runs of carp and a final weight of over 72lb. This late charge saw me take the section win by 2lb and top spot in the league, 3 rounds to go.😊👍
