Sedges 2 day festival

This weekend was the 2 day festival at 'the Sedges' with the Mendip Nomads. A simple format in which we fished one match on Brick lake and the second match on the Tile lake. 2 sections each day with the overall winner to be decided on section points. Also prizes for overall silvers would be given based on total weigh over the 2 days.

I hadn't fished for 2 weeks and not been to the Sedges for a couple of months. This meant I had very little idea of how it might fish. So on day one on the Brick pool peg 4, I setup everything and the kitchen sink. Started slapping this didn't work. Switched to feeder, had one carp but this wasn't working either. I then went onto 10m pole lines and started catching odd skimmers. I stuck at this for a bit and with an hour to go, I tried for a carp on the feeder over loose fed 6mms. I only managed a few carp before the end, weighing 38lb on total, this put me 4th in my 7 man section I had 15lb 9oz of silvers.

Going into the second day, I felt that my section 4th had left me with no chance of the overall places. However my silvers weight was good enough to realistically compete for 2nd Silvers weight overall. So I decided I would focus on silvers for the second match and fish positively. I drew peg 27, started at 11m feeding 1mm pellets and fishing expanders. My first 3 put ins resulted in 3 carp hooked and 3 carp lost, so much for focusing on the silvers😂🤣. I then hooked 2 more carp and landed those. After 1.5hrs I only had 2 skimmers and 3 carp, I wasn't sure if my plan to focus on silvers was right☹.

I started a new shorter line, which I also fed with 1mm pellets. I started to catch good sized skimmers. I then swapped between my 2 lines for the rest of the match picking up both skimmers and carp. I weighed 91lb 06oz, which was second in section.

My silvers weight was also good enough to see me take 2nd overall silvers for the festival.
