A new venue for me this sunday, fishing with the Mendip Nomadsšš.
I had decided that whatever I drew today I was having a simple day on rod and line targeting silver fish.
We were fishing woodland Lake, I drew peg 30, the wind was blowing in and some scum on the water in the peg, this was holding some carp. I did manage to ignore them and I setup a small waggler and a cage feeder.
Started out at 20metres on the tip, groundbait caster and worm. I found that I would only get bite if I had a big worm hookbait on. After 3hrs I had 18lb of skimmers on the tipšš. Next hr the swim went iffy and so I set it up with 6 feeder fulls and came short on my waggler line. I had been lightly feeding the waggler line with caster all match. It was solid with small roach and I spent the next hr swinging in roach, quite frankly I was really enjoying myself.
The plan had been to come off this after an hr and finish on the feeder hoping to hook a few better skimmers and top up the weight. I decided to stick with the roach, not because I thought it would help my weight, just because I was having a great timeššš¤£š¤£.
When the scales arrived and I weighed 25lb of silvers and was just outside the framing silver weights, I did think that I would have done better to get back on the feederš¤£š¤£š, but I didn't care. I had a great day just what I neededš. Two carp did muscle in on the action throughout the day o I weighed 44lb in total. I definitely had the most fish on the day, but the little roach didn't weigh enough, welldone to all the framers, I think a good day was had by mostšš.
