Decided to have another go at the Shiplate Thursday cost cutter. Thought I would make it harder work, by filming and bringing the dog along (Sprocket).
I selected peg 15, this is a new peg for me, its the furthest peg from the carpark so a good test for the electric trolley.
Peg 15 is more of a carp peg for most people, but I have been fishing for carp on my last few matches and it was time for a day on the silvers.
I premixed 2 different mixes of GB last night, so that it would be nice and inert today. I had a mix for the long line(14.5m), Tom Thick expander natural this was for fishing pellet. My other mix was 1 part TomThick Dark Natural, 1 part Rom Thick dark sweet and 1part Tom Thick natural expander. This was for fish shorter (Topkit and 3 section)on the maggot.
I put 1 large ball and a handful of maggot on the short line, this was a line for resting my main line. The long line was fed very sparingly, with a pinch of micros and a pinch of GB.
I started long and stayed there for just over an hour, with only 3 or 4 fish for my troubles.
I came onto the short line and was surprised when I soon had a run of nice skimmers. The short line became the main line for the day, it was topped up and rested on a couple of occasions over the next 2hrs, each time I tried it I got a small run o d skimmers. It got harder and harder and I just couldn't make a second line work. With 2hrs to goy catch rate was zero, the line was done☹.
I started new lines they never really worked. With 30mins to go and I was sure I wasn't anywhere near the frame. So I setup to fish topkit and 1 and catch small roach, which is what I did, this was more of a time wasting line.
When the scales arrived, I was surprised with my 15lb of silvers, more than I thought I had😊, I was even more surprised to find I had won the silvers.
Loving this venue at the moment even though it is fishing hard.
