A cold icy morning for the start of the open match at Plantation today. 20 anglers fishing this match, with the top 3 silver fish weights and the top 3 carp weights being paid, there was 6 prizes to fish for.
A very cold and icy morning, how was this going to affect the fishing?
Slightly different match this, 20 anglers top 3 carp weights and top3 silvers weight to be paid.
I was drawn peg 12, a peg in a bit of a bay, it can hold silvers but there was little chance of competing for the carp prizes.

So silvers was to be my main attack, 2 14m lines were setup, one fed with GB the other expanders, 2 more lines were setup at 6m one fed with GB the other a ball of liquidised bread.
Started on liquid bread line, one small skimmer so after 30 mins started to rotate around the other lines, very little happening, just a couple of roach on long GB line.
It was clear that it was going to be hard and I didn't want to push my luck and feed any more so just continued to rotate lines, after 2hrs hooked a skimmer, but then nothing.
3hrs in I started to feed maggot through a tosspot on long GB line this sparked a run of roach and I actually fished shallow for them for 30mins. I started to loose feed over this line and the short GB line. I was catching ok long but the roach were small and at 14m it was hard work. I dropped onto the short loose fed line and had a run of better stamp roach before this died too☹.
I then rotated between my two long lines for the rest of the match I was picking up odd skimmers that seemed to have started feeding. I weighed 10lb 5oz for nowhere on the day. Des Ship took the match out with 182lb of carp, he had a fantastic days sport on the feeder against the island.
